ART DECO AND VINTAGE BITS AND BOBS
FOR SALE
On this page you should find an eclectic mix of items which should change quite frequently.
I’m hoping to sell things from my own vast collection which has built up over many years. Space is now becoming pretty scarce in my emporium, sorry home so I’m having to reluctantly clear out some items.
There will usually be things which are Art Deco, Vintage and Retro, also maybe older items and more modern items too.
Pottery, glassware, chrome/ EPNS items, also lamp shades both in parchment and glass, maybe some jewellery and books. I have some vintage clothing and shoes which will be added at some point in time.
Please take a look and see if we can temp you with anything from our collection.

BOXED MANICURE SET
Ref: 304298
This is a very neat and attractive manicure set, I think it dates from the mid 1930’s to mid 1940’s.
The outside of the box is in very good condition but I think faded because when you open the lid the colours inside are very much stronger.
Inside there is a mirror on the lid it has slight marking in the top right hand corner. The base is covered in a cream stockinette type of material.
There are 2 round empty boxes in chrome, 1 pair of curved nail scissors, 1 metal nail file, 1 nail buffer with a hide covering, 1 cuticle stick.

COILED PAPER BOWLS WITH LIDS. Ref: 304260
Adapted from a traditional basket-making technique, these bowls are made with recycled posters from a printing company. Artisans form the paper into flat strips, dip them in a glue mixture and hang them to dry. After this they re-wet the strips and coil them into a bowl form. The strips are held together with the glue, forming a sturdy bowl.
I believe they were made in Vietnam.
They are very sturdy and strong, but must be used for dry storage only. The smaller one stacks neatly inside the larger one.
The largest measures 6 1/2 “ / 16.5 cm tall
6 3/4 “ / 17 cm diameter
The smaller measures 4 1/2 “ / 11.5 cm tall
4 1/2” / 11.5 cm diameter

1960’s PLASTIC EGG CUP
REF: 304275
This single egg cup from the 1960’s is quite an iconic shape when an egg is placed in the cup.
It then looks like a space ship ready for take off, the design with the three legs makes it very stable to use too.
It has had a lot of use and the condition reflects this as it’s a bit scuffed and scruffy but in a good way !!

CHROME EWER BEARING
THE CITY OF LONDON COAT OF ARMS BADGE.
REF: 304270
This chrome ewer bears the City of London coat of arms on a badge on the centre front of the vessel. It reads DOMINE DIRGE NOS and then LONDON underneath, it translates as “LORD DIRECT US” which is the motto for the city of London.
At each side of the handle there is a ballerina posing, plus some other patterning on the top half of the jug. The bottom half has a hammered/ dimpled appearance to it.
There are no makers markings on the ewer, it looks as though the inside has a copper coating.
There is some pitting to the chrome which is mainly under the handle area.
I have no idea about it’s age at all, and did wonder if it could have been given as a prize at a girls school or dancing school. If anybody has any information about this item I would really like to hear from you, please contact me.
It stands at 6 1/2” / 16 cm at it’s highest point.
PRICE £12.00 Plus P+P |

CHROME BREAKFAST CONDIMENT SET
Ref:304283
This is a attractive set and is complete with salt and pepper in glass with chrome lids, two shell dishes in opaque glass and a shell pattern spoon. I would guess this is from the 1940’s era, it is in very good condition overall, there is just a slight worn area on the spoon. This isn’t very noticeable and doesn’t standout.
It doesn’t have a makers mark on, but does say made in England on the spoon.
PRICE £10.00 Plus P+P |

A SET OF 3 FLYING SWALLOWS 1930’s Ref: 304297
This is a set of three flying swallows, they are made from metal and are unusually decorated with the base colour painted first then striped with two additional colours. I have only seen sets that are of one base colour only and mainly plain green or pale blue.
This set does have some very minor chips on the paint in a few places, but considering their age they have survived very well. A great collectors set from the 1930’s.
There are 2 which measure 4 1/4” / 11cm and 1 measures 3 1/4 “ / 8.5 cm from beak to the tip of the tail. They all have hanging loops on the back
