Art Deco Goods

All my life I have been involved in creative manufacture, my first job on leaving education was with a very innovative ceramic pottery in North Yorkshire.

But long before this when I was a child I was always either drawing, sewing, making tapestries, knitting and constantly redecorating the walls of my bedroom. So really I have never left behind the things that fuelled my young imagination.

My first full time employment was with Lustre Pottery which was run by Roger Michell and Danka Napiorkowska who created the famous walking ware, here I learnt the art of slip casting, glazing ware, firing kilns and became their head ceramic paintress. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here, learning so many new skills.

I moved on from high quality gift ware to hand decorated bathroom sanitaryware, first with the company of S.Polliack and then on to Bathroom Ceramics, where I spent the next twenty three years creating many unique bathroom suites for discerning clients.
Bathroom Ceramics was a wonderful place to work as there was so much creativity and diversity in our products, all started through the vision of our “Boss” (!!) Alan Gates.
The firm had to sadly close down due to mainly a lack of imagination in so many of the population. The majority were brain washed into thinking “white” was the only colour for sanitaryware, sad times when the “neutrals” hit the masses.

I am an eclectic collector but with a particular passion for the 1930’s Art Deco. I live in a 1930’s house with the interior depicting the era with much of my collection.
This site is hopefully a means from which I can share my passion with other like minded souls and also to exhibit and sell some of my creations and items from my collection.

As time allows I hope to continually keep adding to this site so that its product range and diversity will continue to grow.
